Terms and Conditions

Version: 27 August 2026

1. Scope

These terms apply to all tuition offered by Swiss School of Music (the "School") — individual music lessons, ballet and dance group classes, courses, workshops and masterclasses.

The tuition contract, the school rules and the current price list (Annex A) apply in addition. In the event of conflict, the individual tuition contract takes precedence over these terms.

2. Registration and formation of contract

Registration is made in writing using the registration form or the tuition contract. The contract is formed upon written confirmation by the School.

For minors, registration is made by the legal guardian, who is also the School's contractual partner.

3. Trial lesson

The first lesson is free. It is granted once per subject or per course. A trial lesson creates no obligation to enrol.

4. School year and semesters

The school year comprises 38 lessons, divided into two semesters:

Semester 1: 17.08.2026 – 31.01.2027 (20 lessons)
Semester 2: 01.02.2027 – 02.07.2027 (18 lessons)

No lessons are held during the school holidays of the Canton of Zug. Holiday dates are announced at the start of the school year.

5. Fees and payment

The current price list (Annex A) applies. Invoices are issued per semester.

One-time fees:

  • Registration fee CHF 90, or CHF 100 if joining mid-semester

  • Administration fee CHF 45 per school year

Neither fee is refundable.

Payment is due within the period stated on the invoice.

6. Late payment

In case of late payment, the School issues up to three reminders with a fee of CHF 30 each, at intervals of 10, 15 and 15 days.

If payment is still not received, the School may suspend tuition. Suspended lessons are neither made up nor refunded. The School reserves the right to initiate debt collection proceedings. Default interest of 5% applies under Art. 104 of the Swiss Code of Obligations.

7. Absences and cancelled lessons

Lessons missed by the student are neither made up nor refunded.

If a lesson is cancelled for reasons attributable to the School — in particular illness of the teacher — it is made up or credited.

If a lesson falls on a cantonal public holiday, it is compensated by arrangement between the teacher and the family.

8. Termination

The contract may be terminated with effect from the end of a semester. Notice must be given in writing to info@swissmusicschool.ch, observing the notice period agreed in the tuition contract.

Termination during a running semester does not release the contractual partner from paying the full semester fee.

9. Price changes

Prices are adjusted only with effect from the start of a new school year. Changes are announced by 30 April of the current school year at the latest. Following notification, contractual partners have a right of termination within 30 days.

10. Photography and recordings

Photographs, video and audio recordings may be made at concerts, performances and during lessons. Such material is used only with express consent, which may be withdrawn at any time. Details are set out in the privacy policy.

11. Costume rental

The School may provide costumes for performances. Rental is CHF 25 per performance. Damage or loss must be compensated.

12. Liability

The School accepts no liability for lost or damaged personal belongings. Travel to and from lessons is the responsibility of the legal guardian.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

Swiss law applies exclusively. Place of jurisdiction is Zug.

This is a translation. In the event of any discrepancy, the German version prevails.
