This policy follows the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What data we process

On registration for a trial lesson and for tuition
First and last name of the legal guardian, address, postcode, email address, telephone number, first and last name of the child, date of birth of the child, subject requested, preferred language of tuition, number of lessons requested, interest in concert projects.

During the tuition relationship
Attendance, lesson times, learning progress, invoicing and payment data.

When visiting the website
IP address, browser type, time of access, pages visited.

3. Children's data

We process children's names and dates of birth solely to organise and deliver tuition. Consent is always given by the legal guardian and may be withdrawn at any time.

We do not process data for third-party advertising purposes.

5. Photography and recordings

Photographs, video and audio recordings are made at concerts, performances and during lessons. Publication on our website and social media channels takes place only with the express written consent of the legal guardian. From the age of twelve, the child also signs personally.

Consent is voluntary, has no bearing on participation in lessons, and may be withdrawn at any time without formality by email to info@swissmusicschool.ch. Following withdrawal, the material concerned is removed from our own channels.

6. Disclosure to third parties

We disclose data only as far as necessary to run the school:

  • Wix.com Ltd. — website hosting, forms and bookings

  • Teach 'n Go — school administration, timetable, attendance

  • Klara — invoicing and accounting

  • Stripe — payment processing

  • Google (Calendar, Drive) — scheduling and document storage

  • WhatsApp / Meta — communication, where chosen by you

Some of these providers process data outside Switzerland and the EEA, in particular in the United States. Transfers are based on recognised safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Disclosure for other purposes takes place only with your consent or where required by law.

7. Cookies

Our website uses technically necessary cookies for basic functions, and analytics cookies to evaluate website use. Analytics cookies are set only after your consent via the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings or through your browser settings.

8. Retention

Registration data where no contract follows is deleted after twelve months.
Contract and tuition data is retained for the duration of the tuition relationship and for ten years thereafter, in line with the statutory retention period under Art. 958f of the Swiss Code of Obligations.
Recordings are retained until consent is withdrawn.

9. Your rights

You have the right to information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection to processing. Consent given may be withdrawn at any time.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), Feldeggweg 1, 3003 Bern.

10. Data security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data. Access is limited to persons who need it to perform their duties.

11. Changes

We may amend this privacy policy at any time. The version published on this page is the one that applies.

This is a translation. In the event of any discrepancy, the German version prevails.
